Patents

Fluorescent probes for the study of mitochondrial diseases
Patent preview
CSIC, FICYT and FINBA have developed a fluorescent probe that allows monitoring the function and activity of mitochondria in living cells in very diverse diseases including cancer, certain heart diseases or diabetes, and also in aging and that could have applications in the diagnosis of the aforementioned pathologies, or other mitochondrial diseases of genetic origin. We are looking for companies specialized in fluorescent probes for biological research interested in the patent license.
High quality Graphene by efficient Graphite exfoliation in liquid phase
Patent preview
CSIC has developed a new method of preparation of Graphene by means of Graphite exfoliation in liquid phase, employing Deep Eutectic Solvents (DES). The main advantages presented by this method are the simplicity of the process, since only by shaking a mixture of graphite with DES gets a homogenous dispersion of Graphene, and the high quality of the Graphene obtained, since no stage of the process involves a chemical transformation.
Steroidal Nitrones with antioxidant and neuroprotective activity for the treatment of Ictus and neurodegenerative diseases
Patent preview
Researchers from CSIC and the Ramón y Cajal Institute for Health Research (IRYCIS) have developed a steroidal nitrone family with high cellular permeability and neuroprotective activity. These compounds present an excellent antioxidant and neuroprotective activity and are candidates to be used as drugs for Ictus and other neurodegenerative diseases, as Alzheimer, Parkinson and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
Ionic Liquids with low viscosity as electrolytes in electrochemical devices for energy storage
Patent preview
CSIC has developed a new family of Ionic Liquids (ILs) with tiazole-like core structure, which possess high ionic conductivity , thermic & electrochemical stability , low viscosity and no inflammability . The new family, that can be easily prepared from economically commercial compounds, present a wide range of working temperatures, and could be used as electrolytes in electrochemical energy storage devices.
Highly photostable BODIPY dyes as laser generators and fluorescent probes
Patent preview
CSIC and Universidad Complutense de Madrid have developed new boron-dipyrromethene (BODIPY) derivatives with high photostability and laser efficiency. The new dyes can be easily prepared from commercial compounds, cover a wide range of emission wavelengths and can be useful as active mediums in dye lasers or as markers in analysis techniques. We are looking for a company interested in a patent licence.
Nitrone derivatives with antioxidant and neuroprotective activity for the treatment of Ictus and Ischemia
Patent preview
Researchers from CSIC, the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and the public Hospital Ramón y Cajal have synthesized new nitrone derivatives with high permeability and neuroprotective activity. These compounds present antioxidant and neuroprotective activity higher than known nitrones like phenyl-t-buthyl nitrone (PBN), and are candidates to be used as drugs for Ictus, Ischemia and other neurodegenerative diseases. We are looking for a pharmaceutical company interested in further development and patent licence.
Fast and selective system for the analysis of protein isoforms: a powerful biomarker for cancer and cardiovascular diseases
Patent preview
CSIC has devised a fast, selective capillary electrophoresis system to analyse alpha-1 acid glycoprotein (AGP or orosomucoid) isoforms. AGP purification is done in the capillary by an immunoabsorbent phase and isoforms are electrophoretically separated. The method may be useful to diagnose cancer, inflammatory or cardiovascular diseases, associated to specific AGP isoforms proportions. We look for a company interested in further development and a patent licence.
